The PIP server software acts as a gateway between the IP control panels in the field and the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) monitoring software. The PIP server is a very flexible modular solution.
All modules can be installed on separate powerful PC servers to achieve best performance and maximum number of IP control panels. Each Server Module can have more than 4 IP addresses for connection to the outside world: 2 for the main server and 2 for the back up server. It is important to say that the system manages both LAN and GPRS channels. It is possible to program within one server up to 16 different GPRS service providers so that the monitoring station is not forced to use only one GPRS provider.
However, for a simple start up system all PIP Server Modules can be also installed on a single basic PC (laptop) under one IP address. In this case the Server Modules use one IP address but each of them will have a separate unique Port number, which is allocated by the network's administrator.

| Features | Description |
| Sign Up Server Module | The Sign Up Server (also know as a Parameters Programming Server) manages the systems that are registered with the PIP Server. When an IPCOM or PCX IP are installed the IP address and port number of the Sign Up Server is set up on the IP COM and PCX IP. Then they contact the Sign Up server and once registered, it sends to them all details of the other programming features the IP COM and PCX IP need so that they can operate on the network. This server is normally located in the premises of the ARC. |
| UDL Server Module | This is the UDL server module that is used to program the PCX IP panels. This server is normally located in the premises of the ARC. Installer Website Option (Pyronix Alarm IP) The installers can register their panels online to a system that is already operational. Its maintained 24/7 by Pyronix and is free for use by anyone who installs Pyronix IP equipment. It enables installers to connect to this service and perform programming and maintenance of their IP systems. See a link to this server: www.alarmip.net |
| Polling And Alarm Server Module | The Polling and Alarm Server Module is another server within the PIP System that has the function to control the network presence between the IPCOM and PCX IP and the PIP Server. The polling time is freely programmable from 5sec to any. The polling time is one very important feature directly related on how many IPCOM and PCX IP one can install on the network. The fastest the polling rate the less systems can be installed and the slowest the polling rate the more systems can be installed. This server also manages the alarm events that come from the IP COM or PCX IP in the field. We send several alarm protocols over the IP. With PCX we can send Contact ID, SIA Level 1 and 3, Fast Format. With IP Com we can send Contact ID (if connected to Matrix over the RS232) and Fast format if used the alarm inputs. This server is normally located in the premises of the ARC but also can be installed in a different location. |
| Automation Server Module | The Automation Server Module is used to communicate the events received by the Alarm Server Module to the ARCs monitoring software. 1) If the PIP server is used with another monitoring software, this software can connect to the Automation Server Module via the PC server Com Port only. The Automation Server Module uses several automation protocols that are internationally recognised such as SK Extended and MLR2. This server is normally located in the premises of the ARC. 2) If the PIP server is used with MX-MON, the MX-MON can connect to the Automation Server Module in two ways; either by enabling a link over the Internet or via the PC server Com Port. The advantage of connecting via the Internet is that it would allow the ARC to have the MX-MON on a different location than the PIP server location. |
| Management Software Module | The Management Software Module is used to set up and control the Sign Up, Polling and Automation servers. From this software all the parameters for the servers are programmed. This software is also used to view and monitor which control panels are polling the server plus to activate or deactivate the programmable outputs on the IPCOM.
