The Octopus Passive Infrared Receivers provide 360 degree detection. The detector works by constantly monitoring the infrared energy levels around a room and recognising a change caused by the entry of an intruder. The detector will then inform the panel which will initiate the alarm condition.

The Octopus range of ceiling mounted detectors offers many advantages over wall mounted detectors:

  • Provides 360 degree coverage
  • Ceiling Mount provides ideal coverage for obscured areas and is less likely to be obscured by furniture, office partitions etc.
  • 3D lens gives optimum coverage

The following features enhance the stability of the detector in troublesome environments:

  • Fuzzy logic is a reasoning system which allows an installer to closely simulate the real world. By constantly reacting to the changing variables of the environment the detector is able to maintain its sensitivity without increasing the chance of false alarms.
  • Interlocking Quad Element sensor provides a greater level of stability and higher rate of detection than a standard Quad sensor.

The Octopus EP provides 360° detection. The detector works by constantly monitoring the infrared energy levels around a room and recognising a change caused by the entry of an intruder. 

Patented Independent Floating Thresholds (IFT)

This technology patented by Pyronix allows the detector to respond to the environmental changes by automatically adjusting its levels of immunity to background disturbances.

Automatic temperature compensation

When the product is used in a hot environment this technology automatically adjusts the detector's sensitivity allowing it to maintain its range even when the background room temperature is almost equal to the external body temperature of 32c

Adjustable sensitivity settings

Adjustable sensitivity settings for installations in a any environment.

Sealed optics

Protects from possible infestation from insects, shields air movement in front of the pyro-electric sensor and protects against adverse reflections from inside the detector housing.

ABS plastics

3mm polished finish, reduces electrostatic interference on the PIR sensor.
