Main purpose of the job

  • To create and maintain appropriate KPI’s to support business improvements.
  • Ensure Manufacturing engineering resource is available and prioritised to meet business needs.
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance is achieved throughout manufacturing.
  • Promote the use of lean principles within all engineering activities.
  • Manage capital investments.
  • To ensure that manufacturing processes are appropriate for the range and quantity of products produced.
  • To implement and maintain production processes to deliver product on time, to meet quality requirements and to cost.
  • Provide Manufacturing engineering direction to production, senior management and R&D on safe efficient product manufacturing methods.
  • To review existing manufacturing process and propose continuous improvement plans.
  • Provide recommendations and direction to the business in respect of the type and time frame of new process implementation ensuring its relevance in terms of current manufacturing strategy and capability and cost.
  • Ensure NPI’s are supported to achieve delivery to the business planned launch dates.
  • To analyse productivity variances, identify trends and develop solutions.

ACCOUNTATBILITIES

Senior Production Engineer & Production Engineer

  • Ensure new products are designed for manufacture
  • Expedite NPI’s in a timely manner
  • Design changes to be implemented to agreed timescales
  • Production process instructions and procedures to be maintained and controlled effectively
  • Process routings to be continually reviewed and system updated
  • Ensure appropriate processes are deployed to meet quality, cost and delivery expectations
  • Ensure manufacturing transfers are completed in a timely manner
  • Continually review mould tool condition and progress repairs/replacements
  • Ensure calibrated items (excluding pcb testers) are in date and records updated
  • Project lead one-off engineering projects
  • Provide back up to other engineering resource

Maintenance Engineer

  • Provide timely repairs to production machines and equipment
  • Provide effective planned preventative maintenance to production equipment
  • Provide new and develop existing tooling
  • Support production with indirect/semi-skilled processes

Hardware Engineer

  • Build new test equipment/tooling to agreed designs
  • Provide a timely repair service to production test equipment
  • Identify and recommend yield improvements to test equipment
  • Calibrate pcb test equipment to pre-defined instructions
  • Develop and implement a PPM schedule for test equipment
  • Maintain accurate asset records for test equipment

Essential

  • HNC/D in Production/Manufacturing Engineering or above,
  • 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Have an excellent work ethic and be self-motivated.
  • Work accurately with attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, ability to get on with all levels, ability to work as part of a tea.

Desirable

  • Experience of process engineering and specifying bespoke equipment.
  • Experience of capital spend justifications.
  • Project leading experience, knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Experience of working with ‘Off Shore’ suppliers.
