MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide a production & material planning service to ensure delivery of the Master Production Schedule.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Create and actively progress productions plans.
  • Raise, schedule and if required re-schedule production orders to effectively  support MRP/MPS requirements.
  • Liaise with buyers to ensure material availability, to meet production plan.
  • Timely release of production orders to production, to ensure plan can be delivered.
  • Manage Engineering changes effectively to reduce risk of obsolescence.
  • Actively strive to reduce production WIP, by working with production staff to shorten lead times of subassemblies through production.
  • Expedite production to ensure completion of works orders.
  • Effectively deal with any problems that may delay plan, and liaise with relevant departments.
  • Ensure works orders are closed down efficiently on daily basis.
  • Support Manager in any other tasks to achieve the production planning tasks. Headcount, Stock takes, KPI’s etc.

 

CONTEXT

Pyronix at Rotherham is the main manufacturing arm of HIKVISION within the UK and Europe, manufacturing and supplying a vast range of products to the Security Market.

The Master Production Schedule is driven directly from the Sales and Marketing Forecasts.

The Planning Department is responsible for converting these forecasts into an achievable production schedule that meets both customer orders and manufacturing capabilities.

The Planner’s role is to coordinate the creation and progress a production schedule to achieve these requirements, whilst working with relevant departments to minimise obsolesce and reduce WIP

 

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years within a production planning environment.
  • Multi-level planning experience within manufacturing environment, involving MRP/MPS systems.
  • Understand manufacturing processes.
  • Stock Control and Inventory Management experience.
  • Comfortable working with figures.
  • Be able to use integrated computer software packages to collect and analyse figures for schedules and reports.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and able to deal with change.
  • Be able to make decisions quickly and sometimes under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Be able to work quickly, accurately and pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, Word etc.
  • Must be a team player.

 

Desirable

In depth knowledge of a well-known ERP system (SAP preferred)

Internal within the Company

  • Purchasing – to ensure material availability
  • Manufacturing – to agree and progress manufacturing plan while allocating appropriate resources;
  • Stores – to prioritise material through to production
  • Production Engineering – use correct Bills of materials & Routing info
  • Research & Development– New Product Introduction and Engineering changes
  • Sales and Contracts – Delivery and changes to plan against customer orders
  • Planning colleagues to enable delivery of plan.
