Quality Supervisor

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

 To supervise a team of Quality Inspectors to ensure everything from raw materials to finished products meet quality and safety standards specified in the specification/build documentation.  Ensure accurate maintenance of inspection records by the team for data analysis.  Investigate issues of internal / external non-conformity also accurately / efficiently reporting any quality concerns arising from routine quality control inspectors / inspections / returned product.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Ability to read and interpret product build information, ideally with experience of electronics manufacturing.
• Supervise daily inspection work routines through the manufacturing process to ensure product fitness purpose. Also, ensuring that operators follow company standard operating procedures.
• Ensure inspectors / operators are using appropriate equipment to ensure accurate and repeatable measurements are taken through the process and recorded.
• Supervise the process of visual inspections using product build information, sample parts and approved master / golden samples to ensure finished product fitness for purpose. Ensuring master / golden samples are legible.
• Ensure accurate maintenance of inspection and other quality records
• Access all relevant systems (SAP), databases to confirm and changes to component specification, supply or inspection criteria.
• Ability to isolate an issue of non-conformity, reporting and taking actions required to limit business impact.
• Manage quarantine areas ensuring that disposition of non-conforming material is promptly determined
• Lead non-conformance investigations to identify root cause and corrective actions
• Actively participate in and/or lead continuous improvement activities

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS NEEDED

Essential

• Previous supervisory experience working within a Quality Control/Assurance department in an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Be competent in reading detailed and complex component specifications/diagrams and be able to understand engineering drawing and tolerances.
• Experience in generating and maintaining information / systems using Microsoft excel spreadsheets and Microsoft word processing.
• Ability to plan your own workload effectively and that of a team of inspectors, whilst maintaining diligence and accuracy under pressure.
• Possessing a ‘Can Do’ attitude being quality focused and orientated
• The use of Quality core tools (8D, 5Y, Ishikawa)

Desirable

• Experience of Internal Auditing
• Experience of writing standard operating procedures
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Systems
• Experience of working with SAP and/or Q-Pulse systems
