MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To ensure the supply chain is proficient in providing continuity of supply on all materials required to support manufacturing with a focus upon NPI (New Product Introduction) and EOL (End Of Life ranges), whilst overseeing the careful management of inventory for the ‘Run In’ and ‘Run Out’ of the aforementioned processes. Consistently achieving both department and company objectives – the right product at the right time in the right quantity and quality delivered to the right place.

To ensure that the stock levels are kept at an optimum level.

To permanently solve supplier caused quality and delivery issues.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To support the Supply Chain Key Account Manager in all aspects of New Product Introduction, managing new material implementation and the run out of materials that will become obsolete by product change, driving for zero value obsolescence.
  • The support with EOL product ranges as materials are reduced prior to the final customer shipments.
  • To support the Supply Chain Key Account Manager in aspects of LTB (Last Time Buy) scenarios, with a focus of ensuring material availability is in place for customer requirements until such time that an alternative can be validated and implemented.
  • To support in the running of Project meetings in relation to all of the above areas.
  • Providing detailed and accurate data analysis to ensure NPI, EOL and LTB projects are able to meet business KPI’s and customer expectation.
  • The procurement of materials as suggested by MRP for suppliers (including some critical suppliers), ensuring that all purchases are made to the specified delivery,
  • To ensure that components are expedited to fulfil production/customer requirements as required by the MPS plan.
  • Rescheduling of current purchase orders, as required by MRP, to meet changing customer requirements.
  • Ensure that stock levels are kept at optimum levels by applying existing delivery strategies, working closely with the suppliers and provide visibility on future inventory movements through inventory forecasts.
  • Identify and manage critical components (i.e. long lead time, single sourced, etc)
  • Provide critical suppliers with regular forecasts, to ensure full visibility of our requirements
  • Report any significant supply/logistical problem to Direct manager; ensure supply issues are communicated timely to the relevant departments.
  • Ensure that material control data is up to date at all times on the MRP system.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with supply base, to ensure future contracts are beneficial to company’s strategic goals.
  • Support the Quality function as necessary with reject issues whilst identifying risks to ongoing supply and working with the supplier to close the resulting gaps in supply.
  • Ensure individual/department targets in respect of inventory levels, supplier performance are met.
  • Working closely with shipping companies and ensure that most cost effective shipping methods from Far East are used (sea or air).

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS NEEDED

Essential

  • Material Control experience ideally within a Manufacturing environment.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Computer literate with ERP systems (ideally SAP ) and Microsoft packages, in particular Excel.
  • Flexible/adaptable – able to cope with change.
  • Impeccable data analysis and presentation.
  • Ability to understand and work with complex data and scenarios.
  • Capable of working under pressure.
  • Team Player.
  • Excellent communications skills, strong people skills.
  • Risk assessment of scenario’s that may impact manufacturing and / or supply of finished goods.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Self motivated with a strong record of results.

  • Work well in an environment with sales and planning departments

Desirable

  • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Previous exposure to Far East suppliers a distinct advantage
  • Logistics experience.
