Real Results: BatteryCam2 stops repeated thefts.

In a recent chat, Sam Burgess at Spectrum FSG Ltd shared a brilliant example of how a couple of BatteryCam2s, paired with our SolarPanel2, helped to put a stop to repeated thefts on a building site, saving the client both time and money.

Spectrum FSG Ltd is a well-established security installation company based in the South East of England. They specialise in tailored security solutions across both residential and commercial sectors, working closely with homeowners and businesses throughout the region to deliver practical, scalable systems backed by hands-on expertise.

The site in question belonged to a regular customer of Spectrum FSG Ltd, a building contractor who’d already been the target of theft several times during the early stages of a project. Thieves were scaling the fences at night, stealing tools and cables, causing costly delays and frustration. After the third break-in, the contractor was rightly fed up and needed a quick fix.

Sam didn’t waste any time. He popped down to his local distributor, picked up two BatteryCam2s and their SolarPanels, and installed them quickly on the scaffolding. Since there was no power or permanent setup on site yet, the battery-powered cameras with solar-powered charging were the perfect, hassle-free fix. He added a 4G router to get them online and hooked everything up to the client’s phone using the HomeControl2.0 app. Within a couple of hours of the initial callout, everything was up and running.

That very night, the thieves returned. The cameras spotted them right away, and an instant alert popped up on the client’s phone. He jumped onto the app, saw the intruders on live video feed and quickly triggered the BatteryCam2’s built-in siren. The sudden blast of sound instantly deterred the thieves and sent a clear message that the site was now actively protected.

Since then, there haven’t been any more break-ins or attempted thefts at the site.

The client was really happy with how it worked out; a quick, affordable solution that didn’t need mains power or complicated wiring and did exactly what was needed. The client’s now using the same cameras on other sites because they’re so easy to move and reinstall as projects change. What began as a temporary fix has become the go-to solution for securing sites during the early stages of construction.

Sam’s installed the BatteryCam2 in lots of different scenarios, depending on client needs. What stands out to him is how flexible they are, especially with the solar panel continuously charging the device. He’s had customers using them to keep an eye on parcel deliveries, others to monitor side entrances and some even using the cameras indoors to check on their pets while they’re out of the house. Sam said, “With live alerts and the ability to access the feed through the app, it’s a straightforward setup that just gets the job done.”

Alongside the BatteryCam2, Spectrum FSG Ltd has been recommending the CarDefender as part of their wider security offering, especially while it’s included free with Enforcer Kits as part of a limited-time deal. After experiencing an attempted vehicle theft, one customer saw their free CarDefender in action and immediately bought a second one to protect the other car on their drive. Sam noted that it’s quite common for customers to better understand the value of the CarDefender once they’ve seen it in use, and that it’s led to a noticeable increase in demand.
